CONSULTING / REMOVAL ASBESTOS

Prior to remodeling or demolishing your home, apartment, or commercial building, find out if asbestos-containing materials are present. Hire a certified asbestos consultant or site surveillance technician to sample suspect materials and have them analyzed for asbestos. If asbestos is present, you should hire a registered asbestos abatement contractor to remove it correctly, before starting the remodel or demolition.
Use the following information to locate professional consultants and contractors to help with your project:
Certified Asbestos Consultants / Site Surveillance Technicians:
The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health maintains a list of individuals who are certified to practice as asbestos consultants or site surveillance technicians and who want their names to appear on the list. Certification is valid for a period of one year.  Certification is required by Title 8, California Code of Regulations, Article 2.6, Section 341.15 for individuals who contract to provide health and safety services for asbestos-related work (projects involving more than 100 square feet of asbestos-containing construction material). A listing of certified asbestos consultants and site surveillance technicians can be found at:  http://www.dir.ca.gov/Databases/doshcaccsst/caccsst_Query_1.HTML
Registered Asbestos Abatement Contractors:

The California Contractors State License Board (CSLB) licenses and regulates all contractors who are qualified to do asbestos work in buildings. Additionally, the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA) has responsibility to register all contractors who perform asbestos abatement work and test and certify asbestos abatement consultants.
